This half-hour Christmas show is one of the truly lovable animated specials in TV history, a status proved by its annual network telecast since 1965. A Charlie Brown Christmas was the first, and best, of a series of programs based on the Charles M. Schulz cartoon strip “Peanuts.” Hapless hero Charlie Brown finds himself depressed at Christmastime, searching for the true meaning of the holiday amidst the glitz and commercialism of the modern age. Appointed director of the school holiday pageant, Charlie Brown ventures out with Linus to buy “a great, big, shiny aluminum Christmas tree.” Instead they bring back a miserable tree–a real one. A Charlie Brown Christmas shows off the “Peanuts” gang doing what they do best: Lucy is bossy, Snoopy is crazy, Linus is sweet, and Pig Pen is, well, filthy. Instead of using adult actors trying to sound like kids, the production features real children providing the voices, an endearing effect. The jazz music score, composed by Vince Guaraldi, has become a classic in its own right; like so much about this program, it’s an unexpected but perfectly right choice.

There really were aluminum Christmas trees back then. There were also pink frosted trees with some really psychedelic decorations, too.

I’ve watched this every year since I was a child. I used to stare up at the TV while CBS played that “SPECIAL” graphic and music and then . . . there it was: The Charlie Brown Christmas special!

Now that I’m an adult, my schedule has almost made me miss the show each Christmas season. But now that I have the video, I will never miss it! A friend of mine even gave me the cassette of Vince Guaraldi’s musical score to go along with it. Hooray!

I’m always touched by the message in the story. Christmas is too commercial. It pains me to see Christmas stuff in the stores before school starts, or to see commercials pandering to children so their parents can buy more stuff. But watching Charlie Brown and the gang reminds me of a simpler time.

Snoopy, with his gaudily decorated dog house, represents all that’s commercial and greedy about Christmas. Charlie Brown tries to overcome that with his involvement in the school play and his search for the right Christmas tree to set the mood for the play cast members.

I love this show. I heard that ABC bought the rights away from CBS for all the Charlie Brown specials. But I’m glad I have my video copy so now I don’t have to worry about whether it airs or not.

That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown! “Christmastime is here. Happiness and cheer.” And for Peanuts fans everywhere, it just wouldn’t be Christmas without this classic holiday delight. Christmas lights may be twinkling red and green, but Charlie Brown has the Yuletide blues. To get in the holiday spirit, he takes Lucy’s advice and directs the Christmas play. And what’s a Christmas play without a Christmas tree? As a stand-alone set or a complement to other GeoTrax systems, this airport set is sure to inspire tons of imaginary play. Designed for kids aged two-and-one-half years of age or older, this set snaps together securely. and the components are easy for little fingers to handle.

My 3 year old grandson loves the GeoAir addition to his GeoTrax, we bought him the bridge and barn expansion set and he is having a blast. The airplane is easy enough for my 1 year old granddaughter to run.

When I first received the package, I found a bonus not listed in the product page. It comes with a free Geotrax 3 series DVD (with GeoAir).

Setting Up
There are not many pieces in the box. The steps to construct the control tower with “air” tracks are pretty short too. However, I found two major flaws with the plastic moulding. First and most important flaw is the blue main base of the toy. Yes, an adult is needed to setup the pieces (just like Geotrax Grand central station that I bought previously for my son too). But getting the control tower all the way into the blue main base piece needs a great amount of force as well as a flat tip screw driver. You won’t be able to force the control tower in unless you insert the screw driver to pry for more space. The slot for the control tower is smaller than the control tower, plastic moulding not precise! The second but more minor problem is the yellow gate. It does not fit securely onto the blue main base piece again due to lack of precision in plastic moulding. When your kid plays the toy, there’s a chance the gate will come off frequently. The bundled plane needs 3 AAA battery and the infra-red remote uses 3 AAA too. Be prepared to use rechargeable or get more batteries if your child plays it frequently.

Playing
The remote is fairly easy for a kid to handle. It only has 2 buttons, one to start the plane moving on the track, the other to stop the plane moving on the track. The plane itself has a red button (with light) to on or off it. My younger two year old is able to handle the plane and remote. The sound given off by the remote when the buttons are pressed is loud and clear, simulating the airplane flying and slowing down. It’s quite fun at first to see the plane going up the track and suddenly rolling down. Your kid may also like lifting the pilot up the control tower. But without extending the track by getting add-ons or buying more planes, kids may find the toy boring after a while.
High-Flying Fun
Getting ready for your child’s first flight couldn’t be easier. With slide-lock air track pieces that are simple to put together, assembly only takes a few minutes. Kids are sure to be impressed by the bright colors and the twisting track right away.

Before take-off you’ll need to use a Philips head screwdriver to install six AAA batteries (not included) — three in Jumbo the jet and three in the remote control. Then snap Jumbo onto the track and set him in motion. The remote control has two buttons, so kids can set Jumbo spinning forward or backward on the air track loop. Designed to be easy for kids to grasp with two hands, the controller is shaped like a real plane’s controller for increased fun.

Durable, Colorful, and Easy-to-Expand
It’s easy to see why the GeoTrax system is a big hit with both parents and kids. A durable, colorful set that promises to jump-start active imaginations, the High Flyin’ Airport offers stations around the base of the tower to inspire adventures below the air track. Kids can fill up a gas tank, set stairs for passengers to board a plane, or keep an eye on the security gate. The Pilot Jim figure can sit inside the Jumbo plane, ride the moving elevator to the top of the control tower, or wait for a train ride home. And the plane itself can be pushed along or driven with the remote control, providing lots of options for creative play.

When friends, siblings, and parents want to get involved in the action, they may be disappointed that this set only includes one vehicle and one figure. But since the airport is compatible with other sets in the GeoTrax system, you can expand it to create a whole GeoTrax community with more vehicles, figures, and places for them to visit. Kids will love hearing sound effects voiced by their favorite Sesame Street characters with this Elmo’s Restaurant set from Fisher-Price. With a variety of plastic utensils and food items included, kids aged 18 months and up can enjoy pretending to cook alongside Elmo and his visiting friends at this fun-filled restaurant.

This was given as a gift for my little girls’ two year birthday. She absolutely loves Sesame Street but is not at all interested in this set up. It is not very large, the sounds are limited and loop quickly, the Grouch door falls off easily, and it is overwhelmingly tacky. The Speaker on the cash register does not work and the storage space is very limited. I suppose it is as good as any other kitchen set, although for the price, I’m sure you could find better. I do not mean to be negative about this product, just informative.

My 23 month old daughter played with this at her playmates house and loves it. It is set up in their playroom, and both she and the 3 year old played pretend for over an hour. It is on the top of our Christmas list.

My daughter received this toy for her birthday two months ago, and she plays with it every day. There was minimal assembly involved. It took longer to unwrap everything from its plastic and carboard than it took to snap on doors, turn it on and position all the cooking implements and play food.

The menu is simply and colorfully illustrated, which makes it easy for youngsters to read. The sound effects, such as sizzling, bells ringing, Ernie and Bert’s voices, and speaking into the microphone attached near the cashier make the restaurant even more fun as my child brought it to life.

The only drawbacks to the toy is that some of the doors come off easily, but they’re made to snap right back on. Also, if you leave the unit on, it will randomly ring, speak or sizzle, which can be a bit alarming in the middle of the night. This toy is also on the expensive side, a fact i wouldn’t have minded so much if it had come with a few more pieces, such as a bowl or even a chef’s hat for a child.

Elmo’s Restaurant is colorful, portable and most importantly, it provided hours of quiet, active play for young children.

Open for Business
Before kids start helping Elmo run this restaurant, a parent will need to snap the legs and arch onto the main unit and check the batteries. The pieces fit together easily and securely. Since these parts make use of one-time snaps, the unit cannot be broken down once it is assembled. Batteries for demonstration purposes are included, but these may need to be replaced with three new AA batteries, which requires use of a Philips head screwdriver.

Once this is done, simply make sure the switch, located inside the oven, is in the “on” position and watch as children explore the restaurant and delight in prerecorded messages from their Sesame Street friends.

Detailed, Interactive Construction
With the idea of a restaurant as their starting point, kids will quickly begin role playing and inviting their friends to enjoy a piece of pizza pie or a bunch of broccoli–once they’ve paid with some Duck Bills or Trash Cash, of course.

Kids will love the surprise of discovering what makes their favorite characters speak. They’ll hear an effect right away when play begins with taking the spatula from Elmo or picking up the menu from its resting place in Grover’s hand. Computer Cool School is sure to get your young ones excited about learning. Whether they are in school already or haven’t started yet, this easy-to-use educational toy will get kids ages 3 and above writing, reading, counting, painting, and more!

I bought this for my 4 year old daughter and although she enjoys playing it, I really question the educational value. There are different subjects for her to explore, but the product is not really teaching her anything substantial.

it’s really helped her learn how to spell 3-letter words and it’s great that there’s so much focus on computer skils too.

She LOVES this thing! I LOVE THIS THING! It keeps her busy, and she easily mastered all the navigating. The first month we had it, the old Dell had no sound – she still managed to use it and enjoy it in silence. Now, I almost wish I hadn’t gotten the sound fixed! HA!

I’ll definitely purchase the additional software to keep the variety in the activities.

Learning Equals Fun!
Each time your child starts to play Computer Cool School, they go to the home classroom where Leo the leopard greets them. From there they can visit one of the four learning “centers,” including reading/writing, math, science, music, and art. There is also a “field trip” they can go on, which takes them on a fun-filled visit to a farm.

Each of these centers is unique and filled with great information and stimulating activities. Kids can choose to click on different things and learn about them or participate in a more interactive way, with quizzes, games, or writing and art projects. In the art center, for example, they can create original drawings with a range of tools and colors, and then print or save them. In the science center, they learn about different kinds of environments and the plants and animals that live in them. But they can also choose to play games that test their knowledge and help them learn more.

The graphics in Computer Cool School are crisp, clear, and fun to watch. The colorful creatures, buildings, objects, and environments are beautifully rendered and the animation moves at a good pace — fast enough to keep your child’s interest and let them participate, but not so fast as to be dizzying. The audio is equally clear, and in fact can be very loud — so be sure to set the volume low to start with. Though kids will be learning constantly throughout the game, they’ll also be having fun, which is how learning should be!

Your Child Will Feel Like a Star
We really liked how the software uses your child’s sign-in name in the classroom in various ways. For example, there’s a sign in the classroom that says “Star of the Day” and your child’s name is on it. We also especially liked the art and music centers, which will inspire your children to creative heights. In the art center, you have a huge variety of colors and virtual art implements to use, as well as “stamps” and backgrounds that your child is sure to love. In the music center, children will learn about different instruments and play them in combination with all (or none) of the other included instruments. The clear and colorful (but not cloying) graphics are another high point of this game.

In general, Computer Cool School is very thoughtfully designed, enabling kids to navigate a wide range of play options with a few simple touches of a button. Our only complaint was that we couldn’t find a way to change the volume settings once we’d entered the game. In order to change the volume, we had to back out of the game and reset the parental controls.

There is a short learning curve for figuring out how to navigate through the centers, but once you know how, it’s easy to do. Your child will be up and running in no time, having fun and learning at the same time.

Little girls who love to play house can have their very own place with the Playskool Dream Town Rose Petal Cottage. And with its economical price and lightweight, compact build, parents are sure to be happy. Designed for children ages 3 and up, the Rose Petal Cottage lets kids take imaginative play to a whole new level.

We bought this for my 3 year old girl’s birthday. It was SO easy to set up…only took 1/2 hour for all pieces, including the oven and sink! The attention to detail in this product was amazing and the quality was far better than I expected. She absolutely loves it. The best part…when she is tired of it for a while, take it apart and store it under the bed or in the attic. I can’t wait for more pieces to come out. All the parts nest inside each other for space saving too. I HIGHLY recommend this item!!!!

My daughter received this for her 2nd birthday-she loves it! It is larger than we thought it would be in size. It takes up a good portion of our living room, but my daughter has too much fun with the cottage to worry about the space it takes up. The house pieces nest together nicely, but I wish that it would be a little easier to take the whole thing down if we wanted to-we just don’t want to put the poles together again. Overall, the whole cottage goes up very easily and it is a blast to play with.

Charming Playhouse Features Delightfully Pretty Touches
The Cottage consists of two open halves, each measuring approximately 37-by-18-by-42 inches (LxDxH), with the collapsible chimney adding about eight inches to the height. It’s constructed with two lightweight plastic and metal frames, snugly fitted with a nylon exterior that meets the flammability requirements of CPAI-84. The included toy stove has plastic and fiberboard construction.

All of the components require adult assembly. It took us about 1-1/2 hours to complete the job, and although no tools are required, you’ll need a little bit of muscle to push the metal posts into the plastic connector pieces to construct the frames. After completing the frames, you next slide the nylon exterior on, which, as we discovered, requires a extra dose of patience. Since it’s a tight fit, be careful! The fabric can snag and tear on the metal frame if you pull too hard or too quickly.

Yes, it takes some time and effort to assemble — but it’s well worth it. The Rose Petal Cottage is completely charming. Its cheerily printed exterior sports pretty pastel colors and old-fashioned roses, shutters and shingled-roof details, and a pink, vented chimney. Lace edges the roof and real curtains adorn the mesh-covered windows. The blue, Dutch-style door has a working mail slot, and it secures with two magnetic clasps.

We were delighted with the Cottage’s many configuration possibilities: set the two sides apart from each other in any position that’s convenient for your home, and your child can play in an “open” space. Push them together in a closed, “one-room” configuration, and your child can enter and exit through the door. Vents in the chimney and the mesh-covered windows ensure good air circulation. She will love having a private place to play and imagine. Two small children can fit easily inside, with room for other toys. And when your child is finished playing, you can slide one side into the other for space-saving storage.

These days it’s not easy to find toys that don’t blink and beep, which is why we find the Rose Petal Cottage so refreshing. It simply provides beautiful props to fuel your child’s creativity without limiting her, leaving play completely up to her imagination — no batteries required.

The Cottage benefits parents, too: it’s less expensive than other child-size houses on the market, plus it stores compactly and, with its lightweight build, is a cinch to move around. However, because of its tent-like build, leaning against the back from the inside will cause it to wobble and even tip completely over if your child is not careful. We suggest making sure the house is set against a wall or sturdy backing during play.

My daughter, who is almost four, loves this doll. She is not a doll lover and never showed any interest in dolls until this one. She has played with it every day. It makes her laugh, and she talks to it. It is expensive at $50, but since this was her first doll request I caved in. My daughter loves brushing the doll’s teeth, giving her a drink (and my daughter has figured out that pushing the dolls tongue triggers the drinking sounds and finds it extremely funny that the doll will “eat” the tooth paste or anything else she puts in her mouth). The pee/poop sounds also make her laugh, especially when the doll says “oh that is stinky”. I agree with the other reviewer about the shelves, they don’t stay on. I kept the back drop as well and left the toilet and sink attached at the bottom. This adds stablity. Plus it makes it look like a little bathroom. I wasn’t interested in this doll because my daughter is already potty trained, but she loves it. My daughter has a little trouble with the flushing of the toy toilet, it is hard to push down all the way. Things I like about the toy is that it says please and thank you. The one thing that I have reservations about is that the doll makes a “rasberry” sound then laughs. My daughter finds this hilarous, but now copies it and blows rasberries all the time. I also wish the doll was programmed to ask to play or look at a book with the child. At least some activity away from the toilet, and then has to stop play to go potty (that would be a good potty training skill reinforcer). Our doll seems to loop into the sleep talk a lot, and rarely talks about washing hands. Overall we are satisfied, everything works and my daughter is having fun roll playing.

Interactive Doll Makes Roll-Playing More Fun
The adorable toddler doll comes dressed in a cute T-shirt and a pair of “big girl” panties. She has positionable arms and legs, bright friendly eyes, and curly pigtails and bangs that can be combed with the included brush. The doll comes with her own bathroom accessories: a toilet, sink, and two bathroom shelves that hold the included toothbrush, toothpaste tube, hairbrush, cup, soap dispenser, and towel.

The doll can be extracted relatively easily from the box, but it takes an adult with wire cutters or a pair of tough scissors to do it. Once she and her bathroom accessories are out, you’ll need to install fresh batteries: the doll takes 3 AA batteries, as does the bathroom unit.

Press the button on her tummy to get the doll started. She will turn her head from side to side, move her arms up and down, and begin “talking.” She has a set of randomized phrases, including, “I’m a big girl!” “Hi, Mommy!” and “Mommy, I love you.” And she’ll ask your child for help. For example, she’ll ask for a drink of water, and when you hold the cup to her mouth, and she’ll make drinking sounds. Likewise, she’ll say “Time to brush my teeth!” If you “brush” her teeth with her toothbrush, she will make realistic tooth-brushing and gargling sounds.

Using the Potty
The Gotta Go Doll’s central feature, of course, is using the potty. Sit the doll on the toilet, and it will sound like she is “going” in the toilet — and she will talk about the process, too, humming a tune before she “goes,” and saying “I really have to go!” or singing “Pee pee in the potty!” and other phrases that will be funny and delightful to a young child.

In the meantime, when the doll is positioned on the toilet, the “water” in the toilet disappears, with the expected “potty waste” appearing in its place. Your child can then flush the toilet. The “water” will reappear, while the toilet makes a very realistic flushing sound. Wash the doll’s hands at the sink — turn the right faucet to hear realistic running-water sounds.

Once the fun is finished, your child can simply lay the doll on her back. She’ll yawn, say she is “sleepy,” and the doll will enter a sleep mode. Move the doll to “wake” her up. She makes a yawning sound and is ready for play again.

Realistic Play with No Mess!
The realistic sounds and randomized, interactive phrases from the doll make a delightful stimulation for role playing. And we personally were relieved to find that, unlike other “pee pee” dolls, this one doesn’t require real water — and real mess — to provide realistic, interactive fun.

However, we did find it a little bit difficult to understand some of the doll’s phrases — it took a couple of listens to figure out what she was saying. And our particular doll, unfortunately, makes a tooth-brushing sound immediately after her water- drinking sound, whether you’re brushing her teeth or not. But these two minor inconveniences won’t detract from a child’s enjoyment in taking good care of this little doll.
